In 2004, USACE completed the
LCA Report
which identified near-term restoration features addressing the most critical needs of
coastal Louisiana.
The Water Resources Development
Act of 2007 included specific authorization for the feasibility-level reports for six near-term
elements under Title VII Section 7006 (e)(3)(A).
The Draft Feasibility Reports and Draft Environmental Impact Statements for the
Section 7006 (e)(3)(A) projects have been developed and are available for public and
stakeholder review and comments. The comment period is from May 21, 2010- July 5, 2010.
Additionally, public meetings will be held for each
specific project.
The draft is structured into six volumes including a Summary Report.
Volume I: Summary Document of Projects
The remaining volumes are project-specific documents:
Volume II: Amite River Diversion Canal Modification
Volume III: Convey Atchafalaya River Water to Northern Terrebonne Marshes / Multipurpose Operation
of the Houma Navigation Lock
Volume IV: Small Diversion at Convent / Blind River
Volume V: Terrebonne Basin Barrier Shoreline Restoration*
Volume IV: Medium Diversion at White Ditch
* This project is now being completed under a separate feasibility effort due to a
need for additional alternative analysis and increasing uncertainties resulting from
the Deepwater Horizon oil spill off the Louisiana coast. This report will be released
for public review and comment at a later date.
